Well I must say, in the last 4+ years I've been ordering merchandise online this is the only time I have had any issues. If anyone has been following my brief thread in extreme cooling I've been planning on making an evaporator for a while now. At first I was going to use a chuck of copper a friend had but then found out he lost it -- so I ordered some stock from onlinemetals.com
For a 1.5 diameter 1.5" tall cylinder of copper stock I ordered I payed roughly 25 dollars including shipping. It seemed pretty expensive but I don't have any local shops that supply copper so I went with it.
What I got in the mail was a copper cylinder 1.75" in diameter (though that is fine, and I remember a phone call making sure 1.75" would be okay since they were out of 1.5"). The cylinder was so poorly cut on both ends that the length of the cylinder measured from the outside edge ranged between 1 1/4" and 1 5/8". Now it is my understanding that they are supposed to make your cut 1/8" larger than ordered from the first place.
Obviously to use this as an evaporator I would have to square it up and even after that I would only be left with 1" - 1 1/4" of material instead of the 1 1/2" I payed for, plus all of the work to get it squared up.
I sent an email to the only address I found on their website @ [email protected] and have not received an answer (though it's only been a day). I also stated that it didn't matter if the cuts were square, as long as I had the material I payed for so I could square them myself. Does anyone else have any recommendations for me?
