He's thinking of getting an AOpen AX3SP. Does anyone have any opinions or experience of this mobo. Any info or suggestions of alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

AOpen boards are about the highest quality you can get. Usually the "Pro" versions have all the overclocking feature. But the AX3SP looks like a good one. It's got the 1 MHz FSB adjustments, as long as it has core voltage adjustments, I'd say go for it.

Dave,

Do you have an opinion about other AOpen periferals. My local store likes to sell some but he also likes Acer and I have always steered clear of Acer and therefore was happy to see you post a positive statement about AOpen.

Thanks.

Acer and AOpen are the same company. The higher-end stuff is AOpen, and the cheaper stuff is Acer. I've only used their cheap Yamaha sound cards which work fine. But AOpen motherboards are the highest quality you can get, especially any with the designation "Pro".

Gotta pick your brain again. Do they also market the Yamaha CD Burners?
