I am hoping to get pros and cons on the best Mobo for my slot 1 P3-650. What is the best SLOT1 mobo? Why?

My neutered "16-fsb-settings-less" version of the P3V4X is good, but for top end I have 140MHz & 150MHz, my CPU will do more...

All opinions welcome... thanks

Kris

Abit SH6. 1MHz intervals in the FSB! You can milk the most out of your cpu. It is an 815 chipset, so 1/2 agp is available. This will be the board to replace the BE6-II.

When I went through that mode, I went to the cpu database and found the MB that was the most successful overclocker. I bought the Abit BF6 on that recommendation and it has been a great board. It is the same as the BE6 without the sometimes problematic HighPoint UDMA controller. I used the Promise external instead. They are still available, and are inexpensive.

I personally like the Giga-Byte Ga-BX2000+. It is a 440BX mobo with an onboard Promise UDMA 66 controller. I have had my sys run at 133 no prob and I even tried 150mhz successfully for a day or two.

I have two Asus P3B-F mommies. Rock stable and BX fast. a "little" lacking in FSB settings. a jump fron 133 to 140 and another jump from 140 to 150 FSB where it tops out. But if it fits your processor (800E @ 1120) a very fine board.

Thanks.

I've got 140 & 150 FSB... Do any of these boards have settings between 140 & 150? How many do better than 150?

Just though I'd ask...

Kris

I have the BF6; love it. HOWEVER, it is 440bx, and getting old. My brother got the SH6, it goes to over 200MHz in 1 MHz increments, ata100 on board, 4 SDRAM slots, 1/2 agp, etc.

Believe me, I love the BF6/BE6-II, but they will be replaced by the SH6.

I have to go for the BE6 II rev 2. Im running a 700e s1 on it now water cooled (no pelt) at 1120MHZ 160fsb. Im in the 1100 club :) . If I was to buy a board now, I think I would go with an 815e board. My Geforce2 seems like it is beginning to top out at this speed. 161 is not stable in games who knows what it could be at 160+ though.

The Abit BE6-II has settings up to 200MHz FSB, in 1Mhz increasements, and still does ok at 150+. (If the rest of the system kan handle that, since the highest PCI divider is 1/4, and the highest AGP-divider is 2/3!)

Seems like it is narrowing down to:

Abit BE6-II for the BX chipset

Abit SH-6 for the i815

ASUS P3V4X top of the VIA Pro133A chipset????
(rev a on the P3V4X, of course)
