You can get this Opteron 165 fron Newegg.com for $155.99 shipped. Then if you got the $20 off $50+ coupon from paypal. It would drop the price to $135.99 shipped.

Sorry bro. I sent ya a pm but you didn't get to it on time. :(

I'm almost sure I'll kill it by the end of next month as I'm trying a few TEC experiments on it. Maybe I'll give you a shout then. :D

Sorry for digging up an old thread but the deal is still good.

Just wanted to thank the OP...had an old Abit KN8 SLI in the closet and bought an Opty 144 along with the Kingston memory deal...currently got it running at 2880 stable with a vcore of 1.42...it does 3Ghz with 1.44 but haven't primed it yet.

Good little chip for not much $.
Thanks again...

If you don't mind my asking, what stepping did you get on that 144? I'm thinking of picking one up for a new box for my wife for Christmas. Thanks!

Heads up - these oem chips come with very little warranty if you don't purchase the extended warranty coverage.

Buy.com's defective products policy: Defective products can only be returned in exchange for the exact same product, or at the sole discretion of Buy.com, the purchase price will be credited to the credit card used for the original purchase (or, if possible, through the original payment method such as PayPal or Google Checkout). Defective products may only be returned within 14 days of the date your product left the warehouse (regardless of when you actually took delivery of the product).

Here's their reply when I asked them about the warranty on the Opteron 146 oem chip:

I got the same stepping as Super Nade. (CAB1E 0614BPW)
Now at 3Ghz...18 hrs prime stable. Temps are not an issue at all...I have a Ninja on it and these run cool anyway.

I've had about 50 cpu's...can't say I have ever RMA'ed a single one. Also pretty easy to tell fairly soon after booting up whether the chip has a problem. All that being said...those of you who are nervous buyers make note of 22222 warning.

Sounds good. I have at 148 coming from Buy.com. What kind of voltage are you using to get prime stable at 3Ghz?

It's 3ghz prime stable @ 1.44 bios setting but cpuz registers it from 1.45-1.46
I might add it will not go not one bit further regardless of vcore applied. I have heard about these hitting a wall and mine has done just that. But a 1200mhz OC for $62...can't complain at all...

They do hit a wall. Usually you have to have a bad memory controller. Symptoms, computer will post but will never get to the OS once you go too far. I hope my 148 overclocks like yours.

Yep...that's what it did...post but never made it into Windows.
Then something strange happened...it just didn't like going back to the last settings that worked. I actually had to walk it back up from near stock. It wasn't the motherboard because I used this same motherbaord with a venice and would jump the settings around all over the place with no problems.

Anyway...good luck with yours!

@HousERaT

I noticed you have the same ram as I do. I have been trying to get my sticks past 264 but don't have any luck. Would you happen to have any screenshots of your bios mem settings?
