I placed an order of Opteron 165(retail box) and ASROCK 939DUAL-SATA2 with Monarch last night. I later found out that 1.4 BIOS support the Opteron. If my board comes with the BIOS prior to 1.4, will I be able to boot this motherboard? If not, what what should I do? One more question, why OEM CPU is priced higher than the retail boxed CPU?

Thanks.

itll boot. just flash it after.

OEM cpu price higher? fluctuations?

I just bought that motherboard and mine came with BIOS 1.40. Yours should be at that level also. I have Opteron 144 and booted just fine.

I bought 3 from Mwave and they arrived last week. I got 2 with version 1.4 and one with version 1.5.

Mine came with bios 1.2 but my Opteron still booted up no problem. Have you got yours yet?

Illyest out of interest what is the revision of your board with the 1.50 bios.

I am at v 1.4 and I have Opteron 144 running @ 2.4GH. Is there any reason to flash to
V 1.5 ? Any changes in 1.5 beside recognizing new CPUs?

Not really it just seems to add CPU code for the FX60. If yours is working fine then no need to change.

Though you didn't ask, since mine came with 1.50 BIOS, my board says Rev 1.04.
