I just had to share this with somebody...
I was getting some new fans to go in my computer and along side I had ordered a 120mm fan to go in my friends computer. Well, I just got the shipment in from Newegg.com and they sent me a 92mm Panaflo instead of 120mm Panaflo. So I called them up and they said they would ship me a new 120mm Panaflo that day, and I can just keep the 92mm Panaflo. WOOHOO These guys rock. I liked them already but they have my buisness. :D

Well newegg has one major problem and that is there lack of a good credit card fraud system. There new online shipping address verification system only works at times. I have spent about 4K to 5K with them in the last six months and always use the same credit card same shipping and same billing adresses. Last time I had this problem they told me if I use that same credit card that they can place a note on my account where to call to get the shipping address verified. So we did that.

But yet they still have problems. On friday night I placed an order for 1,600 worth of new hardware. It took them till today at 3pm EST to get the shipping address verified. I called them two times on Monday. Each time I had to give them the phone number I gave them the last time I orded. So much for the note on my account. So now there is almost no way I will get my order this week. As I still have 1 to 2 days before the items will ship.

That brings me two point 2. 2 days to pull some parts and ship them out the door is crazy. I could understand 1 full day delay but everytime I order I always have to wait two full days for the order to be shipped.

I will say newegg has some good prices and over all I dont mind dealing with them when it comes to returns or other issues. But to say there a great company is not correct. They could be a great company with a little more effort.

In the end am going to have my credit card billing address changed to my work address so I can have things shipped here without any more problems with address verification from any online vendor.

One last problem I have with newegg. The phone support personel will not pass you on to a manager. I tried a number of times to complain and hope to get there problems addressed cant seem to reach a person that can take resonablity. :(

Anyway they ticked me off am sure once I get my new toy I will forget all about it and have to go thought this all again someday :)

Like many of you, I have had good dealings with New Egg, including once when I had a problematic ABIT KT7A I bought from them. They exchanged it without a re-stocking fee and paid the postage. I think that their shipping setup, while not the absolute cheapest, is very reasonable compared to many vendors who "Low-ball" on the product price and get it back with rediculous shipping prices.

BTW, I moved this to Vendor Discussion because even though it started out with a cooling fan, it quickly migrated to a rooling commentary on New Egg as a whole.

Good idea to move it I think.

I dont want poeple to think am against newegg at all cost but they do have some issues that they realy need to work on. I have had good luck with them in the past and would like to keep using them.

So I will change my billing address so that everytime I order I dont have to deal with there bad credit card system :)

They are having problems one operator did admit that so i felt better LOL

robertm,
All you have to do is get your credit card company to add your work adress to there file. This is just way to stop fraud. I understand your gripes about there customer service but the issue with the adress could have been solved with one phone call to your creditcard company. I know because I had to do it when I was in Atlanta and ordered parts for a computer. My mailing adress is in california and I did not have to change it. By the way I have had no problems with newegg and would order from them anytime. Hope this helps.

I think you missed the point. It is on file has been on file sense the frist time I used this card 3 years ago. Each time I have this problem I call the credit card company and the address is still on file! So its not my problem it is a newegg problme! I know all about this as its not my frist credit card or online order.

There automated system to stop faud would be great if it worked all the time they know it doenst as the rep told me so.

The problem is they could very easy have a system that once a customer has had a number of good transactions to the same addresses even if the shipping and billing addresses are differant they then can start to losen there controlls. That is assuming the transactions are over a few billing cycles. I didnt mind this problem the frist 3 or 4 orders but now when this is the 6 order in six month time frame its getting very old.

I will order from them again but only if I have had my billing address changed to here at work. And I will tell others to order from them only if they have items shipped to there billing address. Otherwise I will tell them there order will be delayed sometimes longer than is should be.

Just thought I'd post my recent best experience with Newegg...
I ordered a XP1800+ ($124) and 2g ASIII (11$) on tuesday night... I paid 6$ shipping, just plain ol regular fedex saver... Now I am located in Washington, DC, and Newegg is in California... that's all the way across the country... I'm holding my chip now, and it's friday... That's pretty damn good service if you ask me.

Beauracracy may be a burden, but there are purposes for it beyond our viewpoint as a singular entity. I may not like having to bend to society, but if society deems it worthy, then no amount of my complaining will change that. That does not mean I should be complacent in every sense, but I prefer to keep my battles for larger issues. We should all be so lucky as to have credit card fraud prevention as our biggest battle. Best, Bill

I've had a lot of problems with mwave but I think I was just unlucky. Fedex lost the package and then it took almost 2 months and many phone calls and e-mails until they finally refunded my $$. Plus their prices aren't that good compared to newegg.

NewEgg's slow shipping policy protects them against fraud and helps keep prices as low as they are. They're very up front about it. I'm surprised their credit card system gives you so much trouble. Maybe you should contact your card company because my orders have always cleared within hours.

It's rare to find a company that has such low prices and low shipping costs. I tip the pizza guy $4 to deliver from downtown!
