I have the Abit KT7A with the Tbird 1.2 with the 266 FSB. All I hear is how great this board is for overclocking, how do you over clock this thing, I can't change the multiplier. where am I going wrong.
or what do I need to do?
With the original bios I was able to run it at 1400 but I updated to the YH and I can't take it past 1200 without it locking up.

Well I have the Abit KT7A-RAID and i am not really happy with its overclocking abilities. Anyway, did your CPU come factory unlocked? or did you unlock it yourself? If your old bios worked but the new one doesn;t, why don't u just flash back your old bios?

I love the board, it along with everything else I put into it, it runs great, I'm thinking about flashing back to the old bios, but I'm sure there is a few things I haven't done right yet.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for Windows Me, I had 1.5 Gig of ram but I had to go down to 512MB to get windows to run correctly. I kept getting "out of physical ram" but it still runs great with only 512MB.
I also had a problem with my heatsink, I have the Hedgehog with 38CFM and it pulls almost 4 amps off the board so when I would open any game it would shut the computer down. So I had to buy another fan and hook it up to "Fan 1" and run my hedgehog off my power supply. works great now, I can run anything and I don't go above 27degrees.

I have a KT7A Raid, I love the thing. I never have probs with it and setup was a breeze. As far as the ramissue goes, if you go to www.viahardware.com and look at the KT7 FAQ's they have a fix there. Try the WZ Bios, i have heard that one OC's a little better, I am using the YH and can get up around 1300 without many issues.(except heat)lol

I read that and all kinds of things popped into my mind. Most of them Daniel would have to remove for being illegal(at least in most southern states :) )

If you can not change the multipier then you probably need to close the L1 bridges on the processor. I do not recommend the "pencil trick", get a conductive pen. There are many guides to do this and you should read them before you try this.

I've got a KT7A Raid with a Duron 700 and it overclocks it pretty well.... I have been able to hit 954 MHz which is pretty par for the D700's. I am using bios wz110b and have not noticed a difference from when I first got the board, (bios WW I think) aside from the fact that I can actually get into my RAID bios now :)

As far as the memory thing, it's a known limitation of Win9X OS'es to not be able to handle more than 512 MB of RAM. You would need to go to Win2K to be able to effectively use it all. I would recommend just biding your time and waiting for XP if you're not wanting to mess with the NT-style OS. I am going to buy a copy of NT as soon as someone figures out how I can install the OS w/o having to call up Adolf Gates every time.
