I just about daily look at the top 20 high scores using default settings on MadOnion's site. Now overclocked Northwoods hold at least the top 10 3dmark scores.

i refuse to compare northwoods to athlon xp's, they are based on different technologies, now when the .13 micron thoroughbreds come out, i'll readily compare them, until then, i'll call them apples and oranges :p

Now that's funny...the AMD people had no problem with comparing the Athlon to the P-III and Willamette P-4 before the Northwoods arrived. Poor babies, they can't accept the fact that Intel is whooping AMD's hinny right now. BWAHAHAHA!

i like both intel and amd, both have their ups and downs, i was reffering to micron sizes, not cores, cache, or any other factor

Exactly.
*here comes the flame war now...*

so...intel got the .13 micron process out before amd, i dont see any unfair advantage there, it wasnt a crime to compare athlons to PIIIs even though the P6 core was much older technology was it?....ill wait for tbred, maybe itll come in may, or june, or maybe July...lol;)

Heh heh props to the Northwood, but I still would like to wait for the T-Bred performance, their going to really stick it to Intel :D

Yodums

p4 northwood is a good cpu, i readily admit that, and yeh of course, more power to intel for getting .13 micron out first, but the tbred looks promising too, and im sure ill like it just as much, as i said, im not partial

Ain't competition great? I'm glad we have both Intel and AMD going head to head. All of us consumers are winners no matter who currently happens to be the benchmark king.

AMD and Intel throttle back and fourth too much, and competition makes it fun. IMHO, Intel releases a powerful chip, few months later, AMD releases a much more powerful chip, then the next generation of chips come in then it keeps on going.

But when intel makes one mistake amd people dont hesitate to rub it in our faces but they cant handle it when intel beats them down and they whine that its not fair cuz the cpus are on different micron sizes...

Well, a debate is a debate. Everyone just tries to bring up point where x is better than x or vice versa.

hmmm, did AMD ever hit 3ghz yet? LOL! .. "ANY" AMD processor wanna challenge? .. yes I'm showing off cause I'm proud to own a Northwood INTEL baby! .. and you know what I called it? .. "LORD OF THE RIGS" LOL! ..

Hmmm......the tbred line of amd's are gonna be awesome, but there's no stoppin the northwood. Heard a rumor today that when intel first released the northwood chip, they had a prototype clocked at 6Ghz! .....must have been powered by a car battery.... By the way, that's an awesome clock pacino...i'd be surprised if any amd would take you up on your challenge. well, maybe a dualy.......:D

I thought the new AMD line that "might" be out sometime this summer was going to be called the Hammer?

Ok correct me if I'm wrong.......
AMD is first releasing their line of "Thoroughbred" core processors early this summer. The Thoroughbreds are AMD's version of the .13 micron chip. They will still have the same 266Mhz FSB and 384K onboard cache as the current XP models. The AMD "Hammer" line is going to be introduced toward the end of this year. These chips will contain AMD's new K8 architecture (revamped from current K7). Intel, in response is going to release a .09 micron chip named the "Prescott" around April or May 2003. These chips are expected to ship with clocks around 4.0 Ghz. AMD isn't expected to release their version of a .09 micron chip until late next year. I'm sure Intel will respond by releasing something even more outrageous......and amd will respond, and then intel will respond......and the saga continues.................:)
