Ok,
I am need of a little help on overclocking my CPU.
I just want to tweak it a bit so that it will have a faster ghz.
My specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz
3GB DDR2 ram
600 WT PSU
MCP73M01H1 (Napa) motherboard
a6435cn
chipset: GeForce 7100
Southbridge: nForce 6301
I was hoping to bring my 2.4ghz processor up to maybe 2.6-2.8 or higher, and im not sure what to do.
I know i also gotta increase the power to it as well.
So i was hoping if anyone could possibly help me on it.

I assume this is either a HP or Compaq PC? If so, then the BIOS doesn't allow for overclocking. You may be able to overclock w/ SetFSB or ClockGen from within the GUI, but only if either program supports the on-board clock generator.

do you know what the fastest cpu that board supports? as in does it support higher then the E6600's 1066mhz fsb. if it does support the 1333mhz fsb, you can try pad modding the cpu for the higher fsb. just a thought...

pad modding?

there are 3 pads depending on the fsb each one will send either a L or H signal to the motherboard. that then tells the chipset what fsb and then what fsb ratio gets used ie for ram speeds.
