1 gotta unlock the CPU, pretty easy to find an artical on that.
2 the Asus A7V has multiplier modification by jumpers on the motherboard. you have to take it out of jumperless mode then change the multiplier to overclock. FSB overclocking sux on that board. just read your manual.

Had that setup until recently. Seems I couldn't hurt that board or cpu.
Had a coolermaster HSF and then a FOP32, then a Taisol. Each one let me go higher.
Was running in jumper mode at 900(9x100) and it was stable. That board won't go very high on the FSB, about 105 was all I could get. I put an old P5 HSF on the Northbridge but it didn't help any. That chipset is limiting. That's why I went to the A7V133..nice board.
The Duron700 I have(AKBA) was locked so I used a conductive pen to unlock. Had it out of the socket a dozen times and it is still going strong in my new board. I have a notion to buy a 750 for $29 just to say I net my cost down ...paid $112 for this one!!
BTW, I was able to get to a gig but it was unstable and the temps were going up to around 60c..to hot for me.

I just had that board and i was running an AMD Duron 700 and the best i could get out of that board with that CPU running stable was 8.0x105 840mhz it ran alomost 24 hours everyday like that and never had any problems i used all jumper settings on the board. When setting in the bios it would always reset. jumper settings on the board work better on the A7V. but i do know i couldn't get good FSB multiplier speed out of that board i am going to try another type of board hopefully my Duron and next board will be able handle higher frequencey stable. soon to find out.

I had the exact same experience as you did with my A7V and Duron 700. Ran great @ 900, I had it running pretty stable at 950 but ran it at 900 since I wasn't sure how my cooling would be at the time, by the time I went to mess with it some more I did reaize that it wouldnt' do 1ghz stable.

My brother is now running this board and CPU and it is working great. The setup saw heavy use with me and probably heavier use with my brother and it is still going strong for the 6 or so months it's been set like that.
