Hi all ,
Im new to this forum and fairly new to overclocking any advice would be much appreciated :D . Specs first then what ive pushed this system to already :

Asus A7V-266-DDR Motherboard Rev:1.06 Bios 1002
Athlon Thunderbird 1.4 Ghz 266 AXIAJ Unlocked
2 x 256 Crucial DDR Memory cas 2.5
Asus V8200 Geforce 3
Soundblaster live 5.1 platinum
IBM 60 GXP 40.1 Gb Hard drive
Plextor 16/10/40a + Toshiba 16 x DVD 48 x CD
Network Card
AMD approved 300 watt psu
ThermalRIGHT sk6 h/s+f
Coolercase Tornado 6 fans
Windows ME
Temps : Warm at the moment in UK
CPU Idle 46 load 53
MB Idle 23 load 28

Every thing on the board is in jumperfree mode . System is set at 10.5 x133 .
This system is rock stable at 11.5 x 133 sisoft reports it at 1.55Ghz only slight increase in temps
If i try 12 x133 the computer posts and updates but hard drive wont spin for windows and system shuts down
If i try 10.5 x 133 and increase the fsb i cant get it past 141 fsb anything beyond that causes windows protection error .
Im sure this system will be very stable at beyond 1.6ghz just not sure of the right way to do it , any advice from someone with this motherboard or general advice , would be much appreciated thanks

:)

Hi , thanx for the fast replys ;)
I pressumed that the ASUS A7V 266 DDR would of already been availible in the states as its been on general sale in the U.K for 3+weeks now . Thanks for the links had already read them though .
What is concerning me now after reading many posts is my
System Specs as above :
temps:
CPU Idle 46 , load 53 not overclocked
MB Idle 23 , load 28 not overclocked
ThermalRIGHT sk6 h/s+f
Coolercase Tornado 6 fans
The fan on the ThermalRight SK6 is running at 3566 , i am aware that there is a different fan for the SK6 H/S that spins at 6800 would that make a big difference to the cpu temps like a drop of 10 or more .
Is anybody running one of these H/S+Fans with the larger fan at 6800rpm on a 1.4Ghz so that i can compare .
Also i can only run Asus probe , the others ive tryed cant detect the chipset ? The Asus probe and Bios temps are identical . But how accurate is asus probe anyway ive heard some reviews that say its set below and some that say that the temps will actually be higher .
Anyways thanks again for the posts and any other info would be much Appreciated :D

oohhhh! thats your prob. you shoudl get a delta 38 or a ystech 40 cfm fan. these are excellent coolers, but beware! there are really loud!

Cooling Needs

Building a PC for a friend currently- -read on for cooling solution-

Athlon 1.2 (Not OCed)
(Dont know what build yet) - too new to OCing
ALPHA PAL6035 Humming at over 7000rpm
CPU is at 37 Idle and 45 Load :/

1 Extra Case Fan - and you can get the Alpha Pal for about 35$ Total(shipping included) from 2cooltek.com (they delived it very fast also )

BUt just so you know - any fan Hitting near or over 7000 rpm is going to make noise- so be ready for it. Good Luck )
