Hi,

I'm looking to overclock my i7 970 from 3.2ghz to 4ghz but i've never done overclocking before.

Has anyone overclocked from 3.2 to 4 and if so what settings were you using?

My Rig
CPU: Intel I7 970 3.2ghz
RAM: 16GB (4x4GB) Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz CL9 XMP
Motherboard: Gigabyte G1.Guerrilla
GPU: MSI 1060 Armor 6GB
Power Supply: Corsair CX750
Case: Fractal Design Define R5

Ah yeah so it is! I'll take one out, thanks for that! Will also take a look at that guide. Was hoping maybe someone had done this particular overclock and just had the settings to hand so I could change them all and that be that (cheat guide so to speak)

easiest way is to drop the memory speed and start upping the BCLK, add voltage accordingly and test.
Cut and paste settings very seldom work out for different HW, it's best to do it on your own and it's a lot easier if you can understand the basics.

Also, uncore frequency and QPI datarate may need to be lowered as well before you proceed with increasing bclk.
