I have successfully overclocked my PII-333 MHz to 418 MHz and my system runs pretty stable.... however, there is one small problem I would like to call your help on. Ok, here is the problem...... 3 or 4 time per minute, my mouse and keyboard seem to freeze (or stutter) for a second or two (especially during complexes operations), it's almost like my system is hiccupping.

Specs:

CPU: PII-333 MHz
OS: Win 98 SE
RAM: 1 x 32 MB @ 100 MHz, 1 x 64 MB @ 100 MHz, 1 x 128 MB @ 133 MHz
HDs: 1 x 10 GB @ UDMA 33 (7200 RPM), 1 x 60 GB @ UDMA 33 (7200 RPM)
Mouse: Optical Wheel Mouse via the PS/2 Port (Worked fine before O/C)
Keyboard: Standard Keyboard via the Keyboard Port

O/C Specs
CPU: 418 MHz
FSB: 83 MHz
Locked Multiplier @ 5.0
L2 Cache: Enabled
L2 Cache Delay: 1

Can an Overclocking Guru please offer suggestions and/or items to tweak, to reach my ultimate goal..... a totally smooth operating, overclocked computer.

Thanks,
EDG

i have the mouse lag too- I have tried many things, and I believe it to be the fault of hardware. Try setting IRQs manually, and turn chnage the state of your ACPI. I;m not sure if that is what fixed it, but it went awya on my system:)

Also- try changing the multiplier on that 333. They are mostly locked, but sometimes you get lucky (i did) and find an unlocked one, and have an easy way to overclock while staying within system specs.

Good luck!

Your L2 cahce may be to blame
Try turning the latency up (slower) or turning the L2 Cache off.
If that helps, you know your problem.

Whats your Vcore?
Or it could be your FSB as 83MHz is very hard on the system with a PCI speed of 41MHz
