I have a 1.33ghz AYHJA Y with a a7a266. I have heard that they come factory unlocked but when I go to my bios I can change everything except the multiplier. Before I started this, I set manual for my voltage settings and manual cpu speed which I was told I had to do. I tried to overclock using the jumpers and not changing the multiplier in the bios. I put it on jumpermode and disababled VID(my mobo didn't even come with a jumper on that). Do I need to set my 1-4 dip switches on the correct cpu/sdram because when I set it for 133/133, it showed that it was 90mhz. I then turned on put switches 6 and 7(set's multiplier to 9) and it showed that in the bios and my cpu speed at like 810mhz. It wouldn't let me change the voltage, FSB or much of anything else.

Well as you know I just got mine up and running. Still working out the bugs though. As far as overclocking if I were you I would put the board in Jumper free mode. That way you can still adjust the FSB and voltage from the bios. And still allow you to change the cpu multiplier with the dip's.

So far this board is very very stable. And fast compared to my old BE6-II and PIII 800 @ 1gig! It spanks it in speed! And thats at 1.2 gigs (default). I'm a little wiery on overclocking as of right now. I'm still working out the cooling issue. She runs a little warm. I did boot in at 1350mhz with no trouble at all (9x 150fsb). Good to know my Micron PC133 will do 150mhz fsb @ cas2 though.

In the manual it says that all dip switches should be off (ie: default multiplier) if the board is set to jumperfree mode. I couldn't find a way to change the multiplier other than the dips. Has anyone tried to change the multiplier w/the dips when the board is in jumperfree mode?? And did it work w/o killing the board?

Oh, and just in case anyone lost their multiplier reference sheet, here's a link to Asus's website.

what bios version you have you need 1005 for multiplier changing in bios make sure jumper 10 is on...

use 1004 bios or above with no10 dipswitch on. multipliers &fsb adjustments can now be made thru bios

I've got Bios V. 1004 and my cpu is unlocked. But I cannot change the CPU multiplier thru the bios. Only with the dip swithes. And I do have the # 10 dip on.

Where can I get the 1005 bios from?

You can only get it from the German site for some reason. Here's the link ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/BIOS/Socket_A/ALI_Chipset/ALI_Magik_1/A7A266/

Well I updated to bios 1005 and still cannot change multipliers in the bios. I can only change it with the dip switches. Am I missing something? Not that really matters as long as I can still change them. But it would make it a lot more convienent if I could do it thru the bios.

Oh and as far as only being able to find that bios on the german site. Thats not true. If you go to the beta bios page on the Asus website you can find it. It's just mixed in with a lot of other ones. And does'nt really specify what board it's for.
