I'm thinking of upgrading my current celly 633 up to a p3 1ghz coppermine (too cheap to buy the converter for tuatalin). I'm wondering wether to buy a 1ghz with fsb 133 or a 1ghz with fsb 100. The reason is, if i try to oc the 100 to 133 FSB, the question is wether the comp will work. Because the coppermine 1ghz fsb 100 is definetely a lot worse and has a much larger memory bandwidth bottleneck than the 133 1ghz. If you have any ideas, please answer me (ps. planning on using stock cooling so temps could be an issue with ocing the 100 fsb to 133)

You are right about the memory bandwidth being a bottleneck... it really depends on what your preference is or what you can do for cooling;) I'm currently running the 100 FSB version... cD0 stepping. Bad *** chip. I'm running 124 FSB with a pep66 w/38 CFM fan on it. Full load is only 35 C. I did the vid pin to get 1.95 but can boot and run MINOR apps in windows with default (1.75) vcore. The motherboard I'm using doesn't like running at 133 even though its a 133 board... that or the slotket. I just can't seem to get it to 133 on this one... When I had a P3B-F and the chip I crushed  I was able to run 133 no problem... but my cooling wasn't too good and I didn't have the chip too long :D

Granted this is only my experience... but its just to show you that a 100 FSB chip allows for improvement... I'm running at 1241 MHz... the 133 would be a lot more difficult to get to this speed ;)

I also like the 1000E. Mine will boot windows, but isn't completely stable, at 1.4GHz @ 1.9V.

I've heard of a quite a few 1000EB's that will do 1125 (7.5*150) if you've got the memory that can handle it.

(I kinda prefer the 100FSB's myself though ;) )

heres some advice:

overclock yer celeron! maybe youll get 950MHz!
no way will U get 1333MHz from a coppermine w/o serious luck and/or cooling. Tualatin, yes
what mobo do u got? if it has the 1/2 agp divider, get the eb verson and use 150fsb, youll get much more performance. 1000eb@1125 is about as fast as 1000e@1240 yet youll be much more likley to do 1125. better yet, get a palomino, they are almost twice as fast as the pentium3's!

I'd have to disagree with that... I've had 2 cD0 stepping 1000E's that will BOTH do 1.33 GHz on a good mobo... and serious cooling wasn't needed... My case airflow sucks... all thats keeping me cool is a simple pep66 with a delta 38 CFM on it. Heck I had a 12 cfm on it and still got descent temps. The memory benches will be higher on the EB but your memory better be able to handle it... where as with semi good memory you can do cas2@133 and bench as well as 150@cas3.

all pc 133 ram should do cas3 at 150. even my generic pc100 does 150. good pc133 cas2 should do 166 cas3. the 100eb at 166fsb would really kick *** :) at 1250MHz itll beat the 1000e @1333 by alot!

Hm, for some reason, that page is loading EXTRAORDINARILY SLOW for me. But a 1000EB at 1.5 means he is running a 200MHz FSB. The only mobos I've seen handle that are the Gigabyte GA60XET and the Abit ST6... and I've never seen a Coppermine core, even cDO hit that... not without some serious cooling, anyway.

just curious what's that for P1000EB@1250/1333 whatever...:D

soil: Just ran it @ 1200 MHz and got a 110. That's with the system configured exactly as in my sig.

if you shell out for the tualatin or do the slocket mod then you will probably be able to reach my cpumakr score of 124 :)
