hi,
i have a p4 [email protected] with 1.6vcore and cooled my stock hsf with temps around 44-48*C
now when i try to increase the fsb above 3.5, i can not even get in to desktop
i've increased vcore to 1.7 and loosened timings but still it does not even load to desktop

so what i am thinking is that this is the limit of my 2.8c if it is, then i am abit disappointed with it

so if i got rid of it what other options could i get now or later (depends when new intel or amd release there new cpu's) i would be looking to spend "roughly" £200(dunno what that is in $) on cpu, then pay extra for mobo what ever went well with the cpu.

so what do u think i should do?
get another 2.8c or 3.0c or amd 3200+ or 64 3000+ or wait abit until the new range comes out(depends on time)?

thanks ;)

go with that thats not a bad oc might wanna try a new hs i dont know much yet about intel (just got mine a week ago) did u change the divider? from 1:1 to say 5:4 or 3:2?

yeah i changed divider and i put my pc out the window the other day when it was -2*C the other day and my temps at 3.5 went down to 20-25*C and even when i tired to change fsb it would still crash :(

I would stick with what you got until new technology comes out (i.e. Prescott, faster A64, etc) because a 3.5 gHz machine is still top of the line right now...

3.5 is about the best anyone gets out of that chip.
Does it run stable under Prime95 torture on that setting?

Mine will run windows at that setting (250fsb) but fails Prime95.
The best that I can get stable is 3.43 (245fsb) so be happy.

yeah it is stable so does any 1 know when the new intel and amd cpu's will come out?

and what kind of money i would be looking to pay for them?
