Hi,

I'm trying to modify my P4-M 533mhz chip, but I want to be 100% sure on the pin layout.

The datasheet says this:

Figure 14. The Coordinates of the Processor Pins as Viewed From the Top of the Package.

My question is.... when I am holding the CPU and matching it up to the diagram here... should the smooth surface of the CPU be facing me, or should the side with all the pins be facing me.

Either way it looks like the gold notch should be top left.

It says "Top View" so that makes it seem like it's refering to the view of the smooth surface... but it seems confusing for a pinout diagram to show the back of the CPU and not the pinned surface.

Just making sure before I start modding,

Thanks!

Not sure why Intel switched over to this "top view" crap. Yes, have to pretend you are looking through the CPU or imagine it's the socket.
