I just built a system with the Asus P4B266 board, bios 1005. I'm happy with it except for two problems, Cpu temp sensor is locked at 40C and SoftFSB won't go higher than 110Mhz. Asus just posted bios 1006 beta 2, I flashed but both problems remain. I've seen others post about these problems but I've never seen a solution. Is there any way to fix this or is everyone living with this? Is Asus aware?

Thanks...

Do you have anything plugged to your USB 1.1 ports? Try unplugging it and use the USB 2.0 ports instead.

I'm running at 132MHz FSB right now, JumperFree.

The CPU temp is stuck at 40C until you get a temp higher than 40C. Stupid Asus but that's just the way it is.

I use this Beta bios, not available from Asus, it is 1006 test001, it rocks, it allows higher voltages without doing a Voltage Mod and the only bug with it is the same thing as the rest of the Bios's that the P4B266 has is the 3:4 divider is fixed at 1:1 at FSB's of 133hz or higher. I am NOT responsible in anyway for your motherboard if this bios Blows up your system, It works fine for me :)

I'm not using USB 1.1 ports, actually I have them disabled in the bios. I'm only using the 2.0 ports. I'll try that beta bios, thanks.

Is there no higher fsb to select or just system dont boot with higher than 110MHz?

If there is no higher to select Your board is broke.

My ASUS probe is showing 32Cpu and 29Sys temps (C)at moment. There is only 1 previous prope version working with P4B266. And I luckily did save It:). Version is 2.15.05. Tried 3 different P4B266 boards (including SE) and it works.

Is there any way for us to get this version of probe? I found a note on the asus board about it and asus says the upgraded probe works fine. Trouble is the link they give in germany seems to be broken (been trying it for a few days, page not available) so I've no way of knowing if their upgrade works or not. It was version 2.16 if I'm not mistaken.

Could be true, I'm new to overclocking and I haven't got round to installing all these utilities I see mentioned. I would like to get probe working properly anyway for my other systems and keep a copy for future.

Thanks but somebody already sent it to me privately. It works okay as far as I can see. I tried MBM but that does not seem to work on my mobo. I'm just in the middle of reinstalling win2k, I messed it up yesterday trying ti uninstall the iomega zip software.
Just got my email working again and found tons of stuff to answer, but I lost my old emails:(
