I recently bought a P4PE Gold, after installation I went
to boot, the green power led came on, but nothing else did.
After testing with another psu, as well as another video
card, it still did nothing. This is my first sys build, is the
board a turd? Or am I missing something?

Hmm that's odd.

Try resetting the bios.

If that doesn't work, try removing all non critical cards and see if it'll start up with just ram and cpu.

Still nothing, I think I'm going to jump ship and go with an
Abit IC7g. Asus has shown me the "ugly face".

If you tried removing everything non-essential, try switching out some components too. Try a different CPU or Ram. Are you sure all the components you have work? If you are RMA that bad boy.

Return to sender.

Is it too late to just send it back for replacement? If your anything like me you've already thrown the box away and misplaced the receipt.

That's hilarious, I used to throw everything away. Not anymore, this remind's me why I shouldn't. Everything in the system is new, and the only thing's I know that work, are the video card and power supply.

Any good tips on how to remove thermal paste?:(

sounds like the cold boot issue P4PE are having...
not sure though, i just read about them :D...
never had the problem myself...
good luck with your board :D

Off with my p4pe's head!! Sent it back today for a full refund, I'm glad I didn't buy from a major retailer, which might be part of the problem...

Finger's crossed, I'm going with an Abit IC7-G wish me luck.:)
Thank's for the help everyone

Cool, I loved Asus's stuff, until I saw what Abit had to offer. The p4pe black pearl is still one of the best looking board's I've seen. As for performance, my buddy's bp was d.o.a, and my p4pe G was d.o.a, both from different retailer's.

On a side note, our IC7's run like champ's.

Can you post a picture of your case? It sounds pretty sweet.

This happened to me with the P4PE.. hey that rhymed :) but mine fixed itself after I took everything out and found that my metal case standoffs were shorting the mobo b/c I had an extra one in there... That was my first attempt at building a computer, and to this day it works great... onboard raid, lan, 5.1 audio on my killer system... :) I love the optical out...

That happened to me when I first installed my P4PE, it turned out I forgot to close the white slider that's around the AGP slot locking the AGP card in place. You can barely notice it cuz DIMM1 is right on top of the AGP slot. Without the white slider locked (it's just a few mm's) your system powers up with a black screen...

yeah I never seen one of them on a AGP slot before.. at first I didnt think my video card was going to fit hehe. I felt pretty dumb
