in my hands right now i am holding a cheque for $871.17 :) gota love tax returns

right now i am a BX Celeron 2 owner so i have lost touch with the AMD side of things so.....

i want to buy a Motherboard now (i think) and put a palamino, A4 in it. And while i wait, play with a duron for a while.
So what motherboard/chipset would you say i should get?
I want DDR as it is now the same price as PC-133.

or should i just keep playing the waiting game till some "better" DDR solutions come out ?
I have heard some good things about the SiS 735 chipset...
and Epox just released a new motherboard based on AMD's 760 with a VIA south bridge, and that board looks like it may be the best option right now.....

So AMD fans, guide me to the light, pull me away from the evil Intel inside world (idiot outside), and give me some ideas. What have you heard? What do you think?

I would definately hold off on ddr until good via and SiS based boards come along and stick with what you have, if you absolutely must have now then I recomend the Iwill kk266 or kk266-R (raid) and some fast ocz memory that will do 166mhz cas 2. At present sdr ram running at 150-166mhz cl2 actually performs very close to pc2100 ram mainly due to the motherboards. Plus the Iwill board is the best socket A board out at present and does support palamino.
I recomend sticking with what you have and waiting for good ddr boards though.

thanks for the fast reply....
but thats not what i wanted to hear :)
i wanted to hear...
THIS JUST CAME OUT 20% faster than anything before, it puts the BX to shame

well looks like another conformation of what i thought, no killer setups out right now... just got to wait till the start of Q3 then... then i shall have my new setup (i hope)

On the brite side what you right now will do till the end of the year when people will have had experience with the palaminos and overclocking them which will make it easier for those who wait (god bless the first stock buyers who bring the prices down)

i know, but i just dont like the waiting part
i need some new thing to do now....
so... i may be putting my gorb to a better use....
drill a hole in it, simple water block... for now
more in cooling on this subject
