OK, well I am a console gamer at heart, chiefly xbox. So I have been having a hard time adapting the keyboard & mouse gameplay and was just wondering what was a good controller for PC. I have considered getting a xbox 360 wired controller but some people say its not so great for PC. So what do you guys use or have heard is good?

Yeah, to top that I have a g7 :) I just want to get a controller to play games I am used to playing on console.

id say get a logitech one, then again thats a PS1/2 layout, i dont know how comfortable you are with that, but i have the Cordless RumblePad 2 and i love it, but then again i have the G15 keyboard so its a toss up on what i wanna use half the time :D

I heard that Xbox controllers are really USB devices, just with a proprietary form factor. If this is true, you might find an adapter. Though yes, for the types of games I play (turn-based strategy), or used to (fps mostly), a keyboard/mouse combo has been good.

So it would make the 360 controller better if it were PS2?

I just want a controller that I can use for almost any game. Dont get me wrong, some games are better with mouse/keyboard, but for me, some games just arent the same without a controller.

I got a USB->Xbox Controller Adapter part on Ebay for like 7 shipped. It's a nice use, and it works great. The drivers are freeware somewhere on the internet. I used it for NFSU and a few other games.

the xbox 360 controller uses a standard usb connector and can plug right into the pc. if you buy the xbox 360 pc edition controller it comes with a driver disc. if you buy/use a standard 360 controller, you can get the drivers from windows update.

the original xbox controller was usb, but it used a proprietary connector.

Best Buy has a 360 controller PC Edition for 30 bucks, I should have picked it up earlier today.

So if i get the PC edition it will recognize it as a game controller and I can use it for any game?

It should, I would assume. When I had the drivers for the original Xbox controller, it was recognized as a gamepad.

I meant PS2 as in the console.
