are there any racing games sort of like GRID, that allow two people to race each other, on the same pc with two controllers connected?
i have seen it on consoles but what modern pc games have this feature?

im actually interested in this as well. i would also like to know what other two player games are out there for pc?

do they have to be new games?

i remember playing NFS Hot Pursuit on my friend's pc, with us 2 sitting on 1 chair :santa:
one player used WSAD while the other used the direction arrows to drive.
i'm sure it would work with 2 controllers.

Flatout - No :(

i remember NFS hot pursuit awsome game! i think i might still have it lying around somewhere, i think it was the first racing game i ever played!

but i was looking for something modern ish....sort of liek grid/nfs shift/ dirt 2....but none of them have split screen!

NFS Hot Pursuit is tough to get to run on a modern system. There exists some 3rd party patch, but its hard to find + it only works with a certain version of the game. (There were several releases of NFS3)

If you get it to run, good luck with multiplayer. I could not even get it to work on LAN at home....even with Hamachi.

Would it be that no system could run 2 different environments of the same game while having individual inputs and displays for each?

I'd have to guess it's more of, if you want two players, you pay for two copies.

With a game of this date, and since I remember playing it it on 3way LAN, I don't think it was the case. I doubt my father would have bought 3 copies of this game. But we all had WIN98SE machines at the time, which is what the game was originally designed for since Windows XP did not release until a few years later.

I was talking about why modern games don't support it.

haha, that is good and all, but i would like some newer games though... its kinda stupid with some games suck as MW2 requiring you to buy 2 copies for 2 separate machines. I can't even install it for my brother. Heck i bought it and why can't i use same cdkey?

I liked it with CoD4 so as long as your IP was the same you could both go online :)

Hi..
I dont think there is such a game like that on PC. But try this one, it is very similar to what you want.
kart.nexon.net
This game is called cart rider, you can play it online with your friends. Its kind of like Mario Kart but better and funnier. Sorry, this is not some thing you can play 2 players on 1 comp.
Well, thats all i can do to help you. Enjoy.

Every so often I see a PC split-screen thread pop up, and it really is a shame that more games don't support local split-screen multiplayer. My guess is that devs don't think people are willing to share a small computer monitor. Really though, with more and more people using HDTV's as monitors that isn't much of a problem. I wouldn't dare share anything less than a 32" one though, That'd be like going back to the days of the 13" and 15" CRT monitors

I guess it could also have to do with the money aspect. If you can share it on one PC, then they probably won't get you to buy multiple copies for one house ;)
