Pcpartpicker: 4090 prices going up?

Are 4090 prices going up? Or is pcpartpicker.com just not a reliable source for getting pricing data?

I got my Gigabyte 4090 for $1699 (which after taxes was $1831.74 out the door [of Microcenter]). I'd figure online prices would be cheaper than for a B&M.

Pricing has been going up for a while. It has nothing to do with BnM or online.

They certainly seem to be going for higher prices. Looking at newegg, the 4090s (non open box or refurb) start at $2200 & go up from there.

People buy out all RTX4090, especially in Asia. They use them for AI. You could read some articles about it in the last few weeks. The Chinese market is bumping prices because of that, and many cards are redesigned to work with turbine-type coolers, so more of them are used in tighter cases. There should also be a special version for the Chinese market so it can solve all the problems with the IC embargo.
It's the "new BTC crisis" for gamers, but it affects almost only RTX4090 (for now).
