What are you guys using to power your peltiers? I was looking at 12V DC power supplies that were like 20A plus, but they are fucjing expensive!! Even a used one!
I was thinking of using a car battery, and a charger when the computer is off to keep the battery charged. What do you think? What wattage of pelt and type of PS are you using?

Really appreciate your thoughts.

I'm using an old 250 watt at power supply to run mine but it's only an 85 watt pelt. There some good supplies at ham radio shops that will handle the larger pelts.

That's a good start for a DIY but for something simpler, get a nice Samlex (we sell one :) ) anyhow...

a general rule for PC power supplies (These are in CANADIAN $$)

Watts Amps Price
250 10 40
300 13 60
400 16 130
500 20 200

and for peltiers:

Watts Amps
60 6.1
84 8.6
122 12.4
156 16.1

Depending on what you call expensive, we have a 13.8v 23a unit going for $199 canadian. Just take the prices and divide by 1.54 to get approx USD.
