Pencil Trick on Radeon8500LE/OEM

here's what i wanna know...

If i buy a RadeonLE or OEM (both have the same lower spec in gpu and memory right?) can i use the pencil trick to bring it up to a RETAIL Radeon8500, or even beyond one? lemme know thanks! :D

I think you can....
A lot of OEM's can hit Retail speeds, try the BIOS flash (OEM > RETAIL) located in my Sticky.

I wouldn't reccommend the pencil trick, ironically its easier to change the resistors!!
There are two many variables, pressure, lead, width, length etc.

for 11$ more you cna get retail Ati 8500 at Best Buy (139$) i see no reason to risk killing your card when you an get the same performance for 11$ more...
 
i'd have to agree with funny person. buy a retail at best buy, no
shipping if local, and push it beyond retail :p

it sux when you bought yours 3 months ago for 250$ :(
 
I also Strongly advise you NOT to go the Pencil route, as a few people here have fried their 8500's

I cant agree that changing the resistors is easier, but I can tell you for a fact, its far safer
