I don't really care who got it out first. Just more time I get to save up money. :) Something to look forward to, something to keep me from upgrading every month. Half-Life 2 way delayed so much, and it turned out to be an amazing game.

I'm not really a fan of the unfair comparison. I want to see nVidia beat by ATI in a fair way. This was a bit over, but it's nice to see ATI isn't as bad as certain, argumentive people make it out to be.

This is not directed at any one in particular, but if you want to fight a blind-sided argument like 13 year old kids hitting puberty, cut off your fingers so we don't have to read your trite, harsh gibberish.

Yeah, I would say age has not too much to do with it. I was considered the smartest and most mature of my class when I was 15 and in college (not trying to brag). And I've met plently of 30 yr olds that have attitude problems worse than most 13 year olds. I would say that all the arguments that I've seen here have been based on some good points, but were either taken the wrong way or someone got too into the debate.

BTW- 3DFlyer, I'm sorry if you thought I was flame bating, it was not my intention at all. I agree with what you have to say, only I like to take the wait and see approch. In the development process you often come across unforseen problems that push the release date back. It's annoying to everyone when that happens, but it's better than pushing something out that is not even close to being done. I hope there are no hard feelings and we can all look forward to what is comming in the video card market. Cheers

What's the issue with comparing 256mb cards to 512mb cards? Most games do not fill the 256mb frame buffer. Supposedly, Doom3 can use 500mb "in a few scenes" and from the review at www.xbitlabs.com COD2 shows a decent performance boost from 512mb, but other than those 2 instances....I just don't see why its not fair to compare those cards.

ya it might not matter if your running at some crap as 1280x1024 or what not.....but if your trying to run 1600x1200 maxed or 1920x1200 maxed then ya its definitly going to make a differance.....

Sorry but 2 generations is just incorrect, 2 generations would be the 9x00 series.

oh and BTW everyone anticipate me doing a review of X1800 Crossfire with my current X1800XL as soon as the Crossfire Mastercards are available.

Obviously I wasn't being serious and picking on an age group because it also quite obviously has nothing to do with it. I'm sorry you've interpreted my reply in such a way, but the 13 year olds on here with a reading comprehension relative to their age should have understood what I implied.

just for the record - crossfire isnt an sli beating platform until ati can churn out xfire boards that dont fry cpu's at random and have sata2 and other features the nf4 has...

until i see 2x 512mb x1800 vs 512mb gtx's
or
256mb x1800 vs 256mb gtx's it isnt a playing field anyone can claim victory on...

Have you all dug around and heard that the 7800gtx max memory will be 512 where x1800xt and xl have the capacity in the chip to run 1024?

Its getting crazy, can you imagine what things will be like in just 5 years from now?

Yes, it is. "The New GeForce 1,0XX,XXX Cards are out January 26th, 2010! "

What's even more creepy is to think that people in 2000 said the same you are thinking right now; pretty scary in my opinion!

You don't come around here much do you? If you did, you'd know that I'm watching ATi closely, and may very well be using them in crossfire on my next machine. So yes, you are definitely way off base and out of line.

Nah hes right. I've seen tons of negative things about ati and amd from you. Nothing wrong with that but if I posted a thread about ati, i would bet 50 bucks you'd post negatively in it.

I'm going to repost this, because it seems there is another  that has a problem comprehending...

If nVidia does not step forward, and quit hindering progress for the Intel platform, they will loose a long time user (me), and they will also loose the support of the entire Intel OC'ing community. Not supporting SLi on this new 975x xhipset is a very stupid thing to do.

I will be upgrading to Conroe when it becomes available, and if they do not have SLi support by then, I will be moving to ATi and Crossfire.

Does that look negative to you?

Here's a pointer...Read the white, and ignore the black.

no need to be a jerk. just because you say something negative about nvidia doesn't mean you support ati. this whole thread has no results in it, so there's no need for any debate, let alone arguments.

Actually if you are willing to pay for it and buy enough of them Nvidia will make a run of 2gig capable 7800GTX chips for you.

The 512 card was released before the x1800r520??<>()*()%$#@! (or whatever they are calling it now).

The 7800GTX 512 is one generation, the 7800GTX would be the other. :)

there is a reason why they have series numbers
just because it goes from a 256mb board to a 512mb board it doesn't mean its the next gen card. misinformation is an annoyance.
