Based on all of this information, how much of a priority should I make getting this in for RMA/buying a new kit? Money's kind of tight right now, so even the relatively low cost shipping through the post office would be hard to swing, and I use my computer both for work and school, so downtime is a major issue. I should get some more breathing room in late August/early September, but I'm just worried it won't last that long. Thoughts?

I mean, it's up to you, if it's causing issues while working and school I'd prioritize it. If it's only during recreation then lower.

You could also try testing a single stick at a time. If it's one causing the issue you can remove it from the system until you can rma or replace

TRUE, I didn't think about that. I'll run the test on one stick when I go to bed tonight, and then the other tomorrow morning, and hopefully I get good results...fingers crossed.

Confirmed only one sick is bad. I have another 16GB kit lying around that I know is good, so I'm gonna throw that in and just run the system at the default 2400MHz. Having a lot of RAM is important for video editing and whatnot, so better that than limping along on only 16GB.

Thanks for the tip, Janus. 👍

Actually, now that I think about it, having 2 sticks from one kit and one stick from another isn't going to cause any issues, is it? I mean obviously it'll mess with XMP, but other than that, it should be fine, right?

It can cause weird issues with different sticks expecting different timings and settings and voltages. I'd say just don't be surprised if you get instability or boot issues

Good luck on three sticks. Make sure you confirm the slot via the manual. :)
Should be nothing wrong with that. While I appreciate it's a different platform than me (TRX40 with three sticks currently), two will run in dual channel, one will run in single channel.

That's how it's supposed to work. I get it. I'm saying there can be problems with that compared to a simple dual config. :)

Even though it's mismatched sticks, since he's riding JEDEC, it should be fine... but, in my experience, it's more finicky than 2 sticks or even four, running 3. YMMV of course.
