Hey people!

I need new cooler for my CPU. I don't know much about OC. I've increased FSB to 262 and got 3400 MHz. Temp is 46 degrees (67 at 100% load) and I was told it is too high for this CPU.

Please recommend me some coolers for this CPU.

CPU: Phenom II X4 810
Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 (rev 1.0)

Thanks.

Money is not an issue.

Few people recommended me Thermalright TRUE Black 120.

Is that a good choice?

This is what I planned to get for my X4 965BE if the stock heatsink turned out to be too noisy. Happily not the case, but the day will come where I will push this sucker for what it's worth, and when I do I think I'll be using something economical like this:

You might help yourself get better answers by informing what your budget and case size limitations might be.

Well if I won the lottery and money was not an issue... then I know what I'd want: http://techreport.com/articles.x/6860 :bday:

Not even sure if you can actually get those anymore, lol.

Fact is, if you can afford the dimensional requirements of that T-right tower, you'll find you're getting pretty similar performance between the majority of similarly designed competitors. You will not get double the performance for spending 2x as much however.

If that heatsink is simply your cup of tea and you're looking for an excuse to lay down the $$$, then I'll assure you it will get the job done in a fine fashion, if not with as much bang:buck as I'd prefer ;)

The TRUE Black is an excellent choice for that processor. And if you don't have to have a black heatsink, save yourself $5-10 and get the regular TRUE Rev. C. The one I linked you will mount it to AM2/AM3 and LGA775, if you decide to upgrade to an Intel system for any reason. You will also need to buy a fan (or fans) to go with it also. Some good fan choices for this heatsink are the Scythe SFF21F S-Flex and the Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850 rpm model has also impressed me with how quiet it is for the rpm and flow rate of it. And Yate Loon Medium fans from Petra's Tech Shop are great choices also but they are out of stock presently. And the Yate loon Medium fans that Jab-tech sells are not the same as the PTS ones and use a smaller motor. They also turn about 100 rpm slower than the PTS Yate Mediums.

So, you ask here too :p

If money is not an issue, then Prolimatech Megahalems, TRUE or Venomous X (cannot be find in our local stores tho), so I will take Megahalems myself...

Titan Fenrir is very close to those 3, but cheaper.

Yes, the Megahalems and the Venomous X are also great choices. But you will have to buy the AM2+/AM3 adapters for them too as they don't come with those heatsinks.

Thank you all for your answers.

I'll go with Prolimatech Megahalems or Thermalright TRUE.

I know it's more expensive, but my testing of the Venomous X is looking damn good so far. I've only tested with higher cfm fans so far, but it's directly beating the TRUE Rev C by a couple of degrees celcius with the same fans installed.

At the moment, it's very hard to find Venomous X in our local stores.

Been very happy with the Coolermaster Hyper212+. For the price, it's working great. Athlon X4 620 at 3.35Ghz, 1.425v, full load under 50c and fan is only at 1400rpm. I haven't added a second fan yet, but that is soon to come.
