I've got Photoshop CS and it occasionally refuses to open files. It gives no error message, I either open it through Photoshop's menu or right click on it in explorer and select "Edit with Photoshop" but neither of them work - selecting "Edit with Photoshop" does load Photoshop but it doesn't open the image.

It doesn't seem to happen with any particular filetype, when it happens it happens with all of them. I haven't noticed any conditions in which it happens either.

I have tried reinstalling but it still happens. I'm on XP Pro SP2.

Can anyone help?

The latter. I was trying to edit one file then I tried another one from elsewhere on my machine and it had the same problem. I then tried the same file later today and it worked.

Make sure you apply all available photoshop updates.

Do you ever receive any error messages

Did you do a clean reinstall or did you just repair the original installation?

Is your cpu/gpu overclocked? You would be surprised the random odd things that can happen with software like this when you overclock your system. Even if your system seems stable.
