I was browsing Best Buy and I noticed they have a low price gaurantee on the i7-3770k. So I called customer service and asked if they would price match Microcenter with the price of $229, well low a behold they did with no problems at all. I put it on the best buy card and got 6 months interest free to boot lol <---not that big of a deal. Anyway they said I have 15 days from the time I recieve it to return it unopened to any retailer if I choose not to keep it, why not right, so I got it coming. I am currenty on an AMD FX8350 @ 5ghz with a full water loop so I will need to buy a motherboard as well. Now my big question is should I just take this 3770k back and get my money and wait the month or so for the 4770k or would getting the 3770k this cheap justify staying with it and be happy for the low cost. Oh and another thing to throw in the mix, I have a buyer willing to pay what I have in my sabertooth, fx8350, and ram right now...he cant wait its right now or wait on another possible buyer later down the road. Hmmm decisions decisions. Any advice??

Thanks for the input

I would have waited... but the 3770k is a fine chip... stick with it. Not worth the effort IMO.

You're good, especially with the buyer you have for your current equipment. Even if you decide you want Haswell down the road, you got the 3770K for a song and can recover most of what you've got in it. The only drawback is that you'll need a new board for Haswell too, which don't have as good resale value as a CPU.

It just arrived in the mail so I still have yet to return it. I already have the Intel cpu block for the water cooling so I am not worried about that, but I still would need a board. The 8350 has been a good chip to me but I just wanted to try something different and stumbled across the 3770k and managed to get the deal. A part of me wants to keep it and play but I have a feeling when haswell comes out it will drive me crazy knowing that I have the old chip already when I have only owned it a month. I have never owned team blue, just wanted to see what its all about.

Leaked reviews have Haswell jumping up only a few % over Ivybridge so... I wouldnt let it get to you...

But hey, you can return it, buy a $330+ chip and a board in a month, or have a 3770K now for $247 out the door (damn tax!) and buy a mobo and enjoy.

Yeah that's what I have in the chip currently which is still a good deal IMO. Now since I am not well versed with Intel I don't know what board I would get.I have xfired 7950's and I like to overclock :) hence the 5ghz on my 8350. Oh well I have about week to decide for sure.
