If you dont want to overclock it heavy a bx board is good. What type of cpu, slot type or fc-pga?
Do you want ata 100?
Do you want raid?
Do you want something for future cpu upgrades?

The Abit Be6 II rev.2 sports the intel 440 bx chipset which many consider to be the fastest and most stable. The chipset is getting kinda old but is still popular and still tends to outperform any other available on a slot 1 board. The Be6 II rev.2 also offers Raid and ATA 100 support.

The Sh6 comes with the newer i815 chipset which isn't as good as the bx but is very close and many people seem to like them. this board supports ATA 100.
Check the Abit's here: \http://www.abit-usa.com/english/index.htm

The Asus P3v4x has the Via Apollo 133a chipset. It isn't as stable as the bx or 815 and doesn't offer the same memory performance, but Via has tried to rememdy this and performance is respectable. Despite the Via chipset, I've heard good things about this board.
Check out what Asus has here: \http://www.asus.com/products/Motherboard/slot1.html

If your on a budget there is the Abit Vt6x4, it isn't a bad board, but then again, it isn't a great board. It also has the Via chipset. There are also some Soyo slot 1 bx boards people seem to like but I don't know anything about them.

Hope this helps

I'd recommend the soyo slot 1 bx boards starting with the 6ba+III. Very stable and cheap too.

Another vote for soyo. Got a couple around here and they are rock stable.
Their +3,+4 and ata-100 bx series are really nice.

Can anyone recommend a good board for a 750mhz Slot 1 CPU with a 100mhz FSB?

I recently purchased the Asus P3V4X and am extremely happy with it. My decision was based on my previous experience with an Asus mobo. I had an Asus P2B before this and it overclocked quite well (Intel Celeron 300 @ 450). I have no experience with the Abit mobo, but I have heard good reviews on that one as well.

I'm presuming that no BX boards can handle AGP 4x, right? So, how do other chipsets differ from a BX chipsets then?

Right no bx chipset supports agp4x.

The bx chipset supports agp 1x & 2x at 100% or 75% of the cpu fsb.
The other chipsets made after the bx support agp 1x, 2x & 4x at 100% or 75% or 50% of the cpu fsb.

So with a bx chipset if you overclock your cpu to 150mhz fsb then the lowest speed the agp bus can go is 100mhz.
With the newer chipsets and the cpu at 150mhz fsb
the lowest speed the agp bus can go is 75mhz.

So many choices... Well, I've revised my choices. Can anyone point me towards a board with AGP 4x Fast Write, preferably at least one ISA slot, 4 IDE ports, and maybe RAID support

Nothing I can find has all that.
The closest is a abit VT6X4 or a soyo 6vba133.
Both use via chipsets. If you want a intel chipset the closest is a abit sh6 but it has no isa slots.
Having a slot type cpu really limits your choices.

It depends on the video card.
Some will show little to no gain between 2x and 4x and some will gain alot.
