PIO & UDMA problem with burner

I have a QDI motherboard with a VIA chipset and a LG burner. In PIO mode it works perfectly, but only goes at PIO speeds, around 8x... but when I change to UDMA in win2k and start to burn, the computer will ramdomly reboot. To this date it has never fully berned a cd in UDMA mode, coastering 20 cds.

I have the latest chipset driver and such, but if you have any other idea's please speak your mind.
