hmm evidently valve sent out an email to the whole beta team about this, but i guess i was left out might have somthing to do with me not downloading/playing rev3
oh well. since the beta is gone public i guess i can tell everyone where to download it and such

Note: they way they have this set up is like morpheus. its set up like a p2p for downloading the beta, its downloaded from people who already have it and are in game. so this ISNT for dialup users because your download will be killed if the person leaves the game.
also note that this wont be the way the new cs will be distrubited, when the finial version is out you will download it normally

No, you gotta download the game everytime you play. so when you exit it you gotta redownload it to play again. thats why its only for broadband users.

ok i got steam and steam key gen, now what?


i click on the keygen then it wants an account ID, what do i type?

ok, i got the steam thing working but i have to create a valve account.

it wants a special offer key?

well register for an account and when it prompt u for the account ID use the one from the generator... and vola..

U really gotta try out this beta guys, the feel is totally different from 1.3 as theres no more jumping around and the world view and team maps are totally different

As for the DLing everytime thing, actually its really only the very first time u try connecting to a server. The next time it'll load much quicker as the info is basically saved on ur HD.

ok i figured it out cuz im a smart fox

open up steam
go to get account
type in e-mail adress and dont click anything else
open up keygen
type in email address in the account form
use that key under special offer key or what ever it says
done!

the game is great. no more bunny hoppers, recooil is
redone, hit box is redone, new weapon names, new views
when dead, and when soemone dies there body lays where
it was slain until the end of thr round.

pretty cool and a lot of visual touch ups and the load times
dont take long at all.

1.4 is actually somewhat fun now, no more trying to shoot people who are constantly jumping and now theres no lame headshots from 100 miles away with the awp, lol
and supposedly valves anti cheat stuff works, they even supplied us with the popular cheats to try and use them and they dont work. but ill give it 2 weeks of cheater free play before someone hacks past it

I jumped into CS at the peak. I started playing over 2 years ago at beta 5.0 and since then CS has become a joke.
I dont play too much anymore due to all the stupid newbs who if anyone gets a kill ratio of 3:1 or more call everyone a cheater. People who cheat are just jerks, CS is/WAS a game of skill up until around 7.whatever.
When I started playing, if you updated for only CS servers, the max listed was around 500, now there are 5000 or so just of THE WAY OVERPLAYED DE_DUST.

Over all, if you want out of this cheater filled game and back to the real way, www.langames.net has servers that run b5.2 and other older, not lame versions of CS. I will admit, I suck at the older version now, because its just way faster and takes a while to get used to.

If I were to change one thing in CS, it would be to make CS come with manditory cheat protection with weekly automatic updates, rather than the stupid/inifective plugins.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS, the only major good things changed since B5.2 were new guns, maps and the new net code.
Anyone remember the old net code?
Anyone who says ping matters now is a moron, as long as your ping is below ~300ms dont whine. In the old netcode, it was all about your ping.


Now, CS is hardly even a Mod, IT HAS A RETAIL PACKAGE ! ! !

yea the beta has some major bugs that need to be fixed... tho the game play is pretty sweeet!! Especially love the new map views, ie picture in picture, world view

Tho the jumping lag is kinda annoying, but i guess its alil more realistic...

i have a 5-1 ratio, ask yodums cuz he is my *****, and everyone
is calling you a hacker or cheater, with PB or paladin on!!!

Note:
Valve has anti-cheat software built into halflife now, and they are shooting for perodic updates. not once a month more like once every 2 DAYS. but lets just see if they make good on their promises, if they do then we might finally have cheat free play
