Hello, I’m a newb and a fresh owner of a famous 14900k bought second hand from a trustful person still in warranty. I use it in a “strange” configuration for the moment, on an Asus Z690-A DDR4 mobo ( yes it’s not a mistake, ddr4 and don’t blame me for that, i plan to go ddr5 later), with a Asus Rog Ryujin Extreme 360 cooler and a GSkil 3600 cl16-16-16-36 B-die for the moment in XMP2.
A soon as i know will get it i start to read about it and i understand the degradation , oxidation and instability problems that chip occurs.
With my under average knowledge and equipment I don’t think about overclocking but I clearly consider undervolting for better stability and long life hopefully. Here it’s where I hope to get help from people with knowledge becouse i hope to achieve good as good as possible performance and to avoid mistakes undervolting this CPU.
What i did in Bios is next:
Disable Intel Boost
Enable Asus Advanced OC Profile
Auto - Let Bios Optimize
Sync all core 56x
LLC - lvl4 rec for OC
Unlimited ICCmax - Disable
CPU Core/Cache current limit max 400A
Long duration power limit 253
Short duration power limit 253
IA CEP - Disable
IA VR voltage limit 1450
Real time memory timing - Enebled
SVID voltage - Adaptive Mode
Offset mode sign - minus
Offset voltage - 0,105
VDM controller - disable
Undervolting protection - disable
XMP2
I think that’s all. Other values are on auto or bios default including VCore voltage ( that I don’t like)
My results you can see in pictures but i can’t resume here also:
Cinebench R23 score between 40500-40850
An average CPU temp of 71C with 77C max
An average CPU pack temp of 82 to 88C
VCore average 1,242 , min 1,217 , max 1,314
Core Power average 246w to 253 max
All performance core at 5.550mhz average
From my point of view the score are really good for a Ddr4 , the numbers are fine i can have room to goo up in performance maybe but i don’t know how.
I tried 57x and i think i am stable at -095 offsets but i noticed an Increase VCore at around 1.35 and i abandoned that idea. I also didn’t see any better score value on CinebenchR23 with 57x on
My questions :
1) It’s ok/safe what i did??
2) What can I do better??
3) How can I set manual VCore?
4) From what setting should i start when i begin the RAM overclocking?
In photo you see the value after 25minute of CinebenchR23 stres testing. I have tested it also on Intel burner, on OCCT, Aida64 and Intel XTU.
