I was going to buy a 9600xt today from compusa because I need a quick fix for a spare computer and they were selling them for 150bucks on sale. But I talked to a friend that plays DAoC, which I will be using this card for mainly. And she said it won't let her run two accts at once. So I'll be paying 70bucks more for a 5900XT instead. Was a pretty easy decision for me :)

If this is right:
r9600XT ~ 150
FX5900XT ~ 180

Then I'd add just $15~$45 more and get MSI RX9800Pro for $195 because of it's great cooling system and not a bad game bundle.

Judge for yourself:

The 5900XT is 256-bit card and the 9600XT is 128-bit.
5900XT is one of the best overclockers out there and when OCed it goes head to head with the 9800Pro and in some games even trails close behind the 9800XT.

Don't forget, the 5900XT will also softmod to a 5950U w/128mb ram. At this time, I'd pick the 5900XT over a 9800Pro.

I'd pick 5900XT only if he couldn't add ~ $15. But I'd deffinately get the r9800pro that I've mentioned above.

And it also can be flashed to 9800XT since it is 99.9% that it will have r360 core (same as 9800XT). By the way, some reviewers say the card is already shown as 9800XT in windows for some reason.

so IMO MSI RX9800PRO $195 would be the best choice ;).
