On the mobo I have got here, I am having a big problem. The hdd came with 95 on it, and it worked fine. I was gonna put 98 on it, so I booted to a 98 cd, and ran fdisk and a format...the format wouldn't run on this comp, so I out the hdd in my comp and formatted it. I put it back in this machine, and it won't detect the hdd in the BIOS. I tried this hdd in my machine...it runs fine. I tried another hdd in this machine, and it won't detect either. What did I do to this mobo to make it stop detecting hdd's? Does it have something to do with the FAT16 file system? And if so, how do I correct it? I really need help on this one...or I'm in deeeep doo-doo...

Sounds like the IDE channel died bro... does it work on either channel? Or does it just not work PERIOD? Anything look odd or missing around the IDE channel... fried pathways or something... maybe missing pins? Did you make sure your not putting the ide cable in backwards... mobo or HD side.

Check the following:

The cable
The jumper in the HDD
The power in good

The motherboard may need some kind of flash to identify the FAT32 partition, or something..

REPLY ASAP~

Had the same problem with a Soyo board. The main IDE channel would detect CD and Zip but no hard drive. Baffling. A BIOS update did nothing to help, either. I have to assume its a hardware problem, but since I didn't discover there was a problem until the warranty crapped out, nothing to be done.
