I have a 1.8a on a TH7II Raid. I was overclocking it though the FSB. I reached 125 no problem. Then I tried for 133. Now the pc won't boot up when I restart. It just sits there running but won't do anything I can't even get to the BIOS to change it back. I have tried restarting and turning it completely off and unplugging it. But stiil nothing. Then I cleared CMOS and re booted and still the same thing.

Please help. What should do???????

Ok I just got it back up. Not really sure what I did. I just keep turning it off and unplugging the whole and letting it sit. Then it finally boot back up and since I cleared the CMOS all the BIOS settings were back to default.

Anyway I started windows back up and everything seems to be running fine now.

Can anybody explain what happened and is this normal??

I had the same problem with a 1.8a P4. I was using a Gigabyte GA-8SRX mobo though. I would hit 125 fine, then I tried for 130, and everything just stopped, had to pull the battery to get it back.

I posted the issue on this forum, and got some help, but basically, I've had to leave the fsb at 125. I have been looking around, and found others with the same issue.

I used the Gigabyte software utility to up the FSB, and worked until 129.9, then at 130, the pc would crash and reboot.

I don't know what your vcore is, but you might try upping it some, I have mine set at 1.6.

I know this didn't answer your question, but at least you know you're not alone.
:eh?:

Thanks for the reply. Makes me feel a alittle better now that I know I'm not the only one. I plan to water cool this cpu so maybe that will help some, but I have a feelin I'm going to be disappointed. I was hoping for 2.5 and know it looks like I won't get even close to that.

I know that a lot of other people have a setup very similar to mine so if you do please email me with any problems you had anything to help.

That is horrible to hear

I'm thinking about upgrading my current Abit BX/Celeron combo for the newer P4.

I think it might be wise to wait a while before all the bug is fixed.

Is this a COMMON problem with Pentium 4 Platform?

Who is at fault?

Is it because P4 isn't officially support 133fsb?
or is it because the memory, the chipset, or whatever

Does anyone else have this kind of problem

or maybe is it the power supply? JT did you plug in the AUX-Power supply for the P4???

Yeah I plugged the AUX in. I don't think that it would run at all if it wasn't plugged in, but I don't know for sure. It's an 430 watt Enermax power supply. Brand new so I don't think that is the problem.

Hopefully we get some more input from others about this. It sounds like this (1.8a with TH7II) is the hot setup, that's why I went with it. So we'll just have to wait and see.

Sometimes those TH7-II have hard crashes that are hard to recover from, especially if you have the AGP and PCI bus too far out of spec. Using the "fix" setting usually helps.

Hey Batboy how high of FSB are you running, how high is the memory and what is your vcore.

Thanks
