post your 1.8A SL66Q OC results here

I have a Northwood 1.8A SL66Q and would love to see how far you got it to go ( stable). This thread will also be for everyone to get a fair idea of what they can do with it. Please include cpu voltage, memory etc. Benchmark results would also be nice.

As soon as I get some good overclocking memory I will give my results also. I am currently using PC2100 Samgsun 256mb.
Your participation will be appreciated;

My best OC ( stable) result was 2754mhz and that is the wall that I cannot pass with Corsair XMS pc 2700 memory. I brought it back down to 2.61gig because that seems to be the swet spot for my processor.

i think AZN had that chip at about 2700mhz stable about a year and a half ago. i remember cause i had a 1.6a @ 2664 and he always had to have the upper hand back then ;)

It's really not that bad of a OC ( 954mhz) for this chip. At 2754mhz I can play any current game out there. I think I will wait till the 2.8C 800FSB comes down on price a little more since it is not so pressing to upgrade as of yet.

My old SL68Q chip did 2.85ghz on 1.67vcc, would do 2.92 with 1.75vcc but the slight performance bump wasn't worth the stress. That was probably my BEST P4 chip of the several I've got.

It would do 2.4ghz on 1.3vcc, and 2.7ghz on stock voltage. I kinda miss it :(

I hit a max of 3.02ghz from my 1.8 on air, but it was not stable. I loaded it ran it long enough to grab a screen shot, did some email checking played a game of UT2K3 and then realized how hot it was getting and shut it down. It is rock stable at 2.8 but runs warm I leave it at 2.4 becuase it runs 2.4 at 1.5v and nice and cool.

Oh in case you are wondering it is the STOCK Heatsink and Fan.

I've heard that the SL68Q was a good chip for OCing and I am quite happy with my SL66q.
I have been thinking of getting a 2.4 but I've heard and read that memory gives out ( unless you spend alot of $ to get some high quality memory ) before your chip finds it's limit where on a 2.8 you will not have so much stress on your memory. This conclusion is strictly from researching information on the 2.4ghz.
If I am wrong please correct me.
A person learns by studying and asking.

I dont know what my sspec # is, but i have a had a 1.8a running in my wifes computer, 24/7, @ 2.9ghz with 1.65v for over a year now.

not mine but it is insane. its a 1.8ghz with phase change

and here's the thread if you wanna rad all about it

4 gig form a 1.8gig " DAMN!!!!" now that is really something to brag about. f00t, is that a SL6LA? God, I am in shock. I knew pase change cooling helps but I had NO idea.
Capt. Fiero, 3gig. on a B0 is also a really nice accomplishment.
I am sooo jealous LOL.

yes thats a SL6LA the C1 stepping. its no surprise that it does 4ghz on a prommie. its basically the same core as my 2.4b that did 3.66ghz on water.

My SL6LA does 3.42GHz on air, but I don't think it has 4GHz in it regardless of cooling. But as that screenie was taken at 1.872V Vcore, that one doesn't have it in it either :>

What should be my maximum cpu voltage threshold be on the 1.8 sl66q?
I have not tried above 1.63V due to not wanting to fry it. Larva, even I know that 1.87 Volts will make a chip short lived.

mine does 180fsb on default. i have not tried to give it any extra voltage, as 3240 is plenty for me, and i dont have to add any extra volts. maybe some day i will give it some more juice. its a d1 stepping too, but it says c1 on the box.
