I have a classic athlon 600-on the basic Gateway board (Jabil Kadoka) and i am posotive that i cannot overclock it-unless i get a GFD, and if i do what divisor do i need to set the L2 cache if im gonna run at 800+(1/3-1/2-2/5) because i know that with only 512k cache that if i dont adjust the L2 that it will be pointless after 700-750mhz due to the divisor-but mathlon can ix tha right???? (id like to hit 850, is that psossible) with my gear?

If your bios has the ability to change the FSB, then that is the only way to increase your speed without installing a GFD. Most can handle no higher than 110 or it becomes very unstable. it hten throws your PCI Clock system out of whack!

Reaching 800 or 850 all depends on the processor on the slot card, on my athlon classic it had a .25 cpu so it wasn't able to over clock far with out major cooling and voltage upping witch I wasn't to keen on myself. I believe the divisor on your cache should be 1/3 for 800 - 850 mhz the 2/5 was for the 1gig processors. You will need a GFD to change the multiplier on the chip and I think there is a utilities for changing the cache divider not to sure about that well hope that helps

Whats GFD and where can i get it?
Will it work with a PIII 500 gateway that i cant overclock?
