I'm thinking of getting an Enermax EG465P-VE(FC) 430W PSU but have read some posts where it has to be modded or tweaked to get the full potential out of it.
I just want to order it and replace my old psu when I get it.
I don't want to have to mess around with it to get it to work right.
Is this really the case?
Maybe I'm better off w/ the Antec 400w psu.

I have the Enermax 431 powering my A7M266-D and it works 100%

It's powering:
2 XP-1700's @ 1538 1.85 Vcore for both
2 7200 Rpm HDD's
2 CDROM drives.
1 Floppy
1 NIC
Radeon 8500
About 7 fans (total of about 28 watts)

I only have one XP-1700 in there right now because I fried one.
No mods necessay, just plug and play.

i didnt know that psu's couldnt be plug + play, i thought they all were

It's just the heat monitoring, and energy saving features that are "plug and play". If you don't connect the monitor, or your mother board doesn't support it, it works like a regular PSU. If your mother board supports it, and you feel like connecting it, all it will do is power down the PSU's fans when the system is below a certain temperature and/or at idle.

So the fans will run at full speed if I don't plug the psu to my mob for the energy saving/monitoring features? If yes, that's what I want since my hsf noise will be louder anyway.
