So I am 99.9% sure it is seated correctly. Lit and fans spinning. Not seen in Bios or Wndows 11. Booting off the APU. First PC in sig.

Things I am trying in the order I am trying. (and a question) This is a 3 8 to 12v high power. I am using a straight 12 v high power to my Lian Li 1000w PSU. Anyone hear or see of that not being enough power ? In other words getting more power from 3 8's than provided by a 12v high power only ?

1) Pulling the GPU and putting it back in, along with this taking out the extension Lian Li Strimer.

2) Use three 8 into the adapter instead of the single cable from GPU.

3) Update Bios.

4) See post 4

That is all I can think of currently. Take a guess which of these fixes it and any other troubleshooting you can think of. I'll check back in an hour.

OK so a quick check shows 3 8 pins at 150W each is 450w. The 12v High power connector provides up to 600W so that shouldn't be the problem. Gonna skip that. Also skipping the BIOS as that only gives me the newest microcode. This PC previously had a 4070 TI in it so the BIOS should be appropriate for the 4080 Super.

4th) Gonna put in a 4070 Ti Super and put the 4080 Super in that PC. That will test both this GPU and the install.

I know it's annoying, but after testing 4) can you remove the mobo from the case and test the GPU directly on the PCIe or you going to leave it as a last resort?

Odd that they used a 3x8, would have thought that 2x8+PCIe would have been more than enough (my 3080ti is a 2x8), I mean, PNY typically uses OEM PCBs...

Yeah there is no way I'm going to do that Ken. If it doesn't work in another PC it's definitely the GPU and I would return it.

I have 40 minutes till my work unit is finished and folding at home. At that point I'll pull the 4070 TI super and stick it in the motherboard. Also this GPU is previously worked in the motherboard so it should be fine. And I'll stick this 4080 in. I happen to have three eight pins sitting right next to where it needs to be already as this PSU doesn't have a 12 volt HP.

Ok Ken I reread your post now that I am chilling (5 minutes to go for WU). Yes after 4) I can do that but not with these PC's. I received the new case for my daughters build. I'll try it in that as my last resort. Pretty sure I have all the parts I need. I thought I ordered a PSU that isn't here but I have an EVGA 850W laying around somewhere. This will happen tomorrow. I should know in an hour if 4) works.

Okay good news the GPU does work. I have it in the bottom slot of my next newest PC whichever one that is in my sig.

I prefer it to be in the top slot but I wanted to check it before I put the other GPU back in. It's almost impossible to put the top one in and then put the second one below it. The sucker is so long I want it on the bottom anyway. Installing the newest driver as we speak. I'll shut it down reboot and then shut it down again install the second GPU.

At that point I'll install fah and see how they do hopefully it'll do about 30 million PPD. Not that that's really fodder for this section 😅

Thanks for the replies
