this is a good idea for a poll :) i just bought C&C Renegade and it comes in this little tiny box, most the new games are in the same box. I talked to the guy at the store and he said they are switching to the smaller packaging to cut down on Costs (package and shipping costs).
Heres a picture of what im talking about (EmpireEarth box and Renegade box)

well sieara made HL too, and HL was really costly.. i think thats why the price is different. but i do like the bigger box better.. smaller ones look like a ps2 box or something

Yes!!!! It's the best idea ever. The old packages were so bulky but the new onesare nice and compact. It's all that they need anyways, unless they include a strategy guide.

Not talking about the price on the boxes (renegade was $5 off, thats why its cheaper).
we wont see a change in the game prices for a few months but when they start saving money they might lower the prices so new games wont be so insanley expensive.

eh well as long as i can find them on ebay half price, i could care less about the size of the box :)

My Fallout Tactics came in a dvd type case with 3 cds .............. it's cool to some extent but the game is no cheaper and some games need bigger indepth manuals like flight sims............. i hope more complex games don't come in this 'DVD' packaging.

On the flip side though , the games are now more transportable and easier to store.

I like them much better considering I keep boxes to every single computer related item I buy.

I never saw any reason in such big boxes for PC games. All my boxes take up an entire closet as it is already.

Just like Gravity Man said, less room for a manual. Even though most games don't come with a good manual anymore.

I'm with Gravity Man. I also like the big boxes cuz they can stick more pics of the game on 'em. I gives me more stuff to look at, and makes me wast more time at Best Buy. :p

gravity man said it. i like when the game comes with a good thick manual and maybe a few charts to go with the game. I keep all of my boxes too but i don't mind the size.

This is just a though, but doesn't buying a game on eBay contribute to piracy just as much as borrowing a game? I mean sure, you paid something, but the developers are never going to see that money. And the guy who sold it to you probably kept a copy of the game too.

Its true that most people probably keep copies of the games they sell, unless you buy them unopened. Inwhich case the developers get there cash too. So the best bet is just to only buy un opened games.

When I fork out $40 - $50 for a game, I expect to get what I pay for. A bigger box looks more then a smaller box. (Did that make any sence?) Also the heavier the box the better. Just a mentality thing I guess. But the small boxes are cool too. I like them both I guess.
