i just bought MSI K7T Pro 2a, i needed to upgraded the BIOS to solve imcompatibilities with Windows 2000. After installing the new BIOS, i ended up with a blank beeping screen. I returning the mobo to the shop n waited for refund. I e-mailed MSI and got this:

Does this mean that i you have a 1.2Athlon with a MSI-6330 mobo n u need to upgrade the BIOS they wont give u a guarantee if it fails? its like giving out a faulty product and giving you glue to fix it and if the glue didn't stick well, they would just say sorry!

Beware especially those who are using Win2000 with MSI-6330!!! This is bad tech support =( i was very satisfied with the mobo until this problem arised =(

I may be way wrong here, but what I believe they meant is that if the end user screws up when flashing a new BIOS, it isn't guaranteed.

Did you try flashing the old BIOS back?

Terry

I had a similar experence the support was friendly,But very unhelpfull. And thay were lost as to what might help me so I returned M/B and bought the ABIT.

well... i'm still gonna stick to my opinion.. i've been flashing different mobos from A-Trend, Aceboard, asus and Jetway. I didn't get any problems.. The installation disk reported 100% successful!

I even gave the BIOS disk to the owner of the shop to prove to him that it was the correct BIOS. MSI should change thier policies!!! they can't give away new BIOS (that they wont guarantee) to fix problems for thier products that the customer has no control off!! The incompatibilities w/ older BIOS are their errors in the first place!

about the installation of the older BIOS, the manual said that i should leave the PC on for 2 minutes and it will automatically access the disk for the original BIOS.. i left the PC beeping for 30minutes and nothing happens =(

I'm not trying to dispute you...and I'm sure that you are frustrated. I'm also seeing similar comments on other boards, esp. the IWILL.

I've flashed many a BIOS on the 2A so I'm curious which version caused you problems.

Terry

i used the newest BIOS version 2.4 on a board w/ Rev 1.1 (thatz what i remembered). btw did u use Live BIOS? i use the bootdisc trick.. just formatted a disk using Win98 and copied all the files into d disk and ran AWARD flash..

yap im frustrated bec. of what MSI said... they should be more caring to thier customers...

don't know if this will help of not but it is worth a try hold down the insert key while you are booting up this will set fsb and multiplyer back to default mine will do that sometimes it will just beep real fast and constant if for some reason the baord does not like the settings that I have set up funny thing is that after hold the insert key down and it boots at default I can go into the bios not change anything and hit f10 to save the settings it will boot right up with no problems hope that it works for you because that really is a good board mine kicks but.

Thats just to cover their own asses while giving it to you from both ends. I had this happen a few times.

Its kinda funny how a new board would be incompatible with a system that was released in 99

Ask them about that....... im sure they gave you drivers for win 2000

Do you have the old bios?????

As long as it boots you can reload the default.

At least you can get it up and running

Im an mcse , a+ and systm engineer and windows 2000 series sux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You want a good system , go with the penguin!!!!!!

Stable as a rock!!!!!
