Hello again,
Well ive been to all the topics about my computer, first memory, then vid card, now maybe HD. My computer is acting real slow, like when i open programs so forth, I have an IBM 40gb dexstar. Anyways I went to a page called www.pcpitstop.com, ran some diags and it is telling me my hd has a uncached rate of 1.7 and most systems like mine run at 4+. Can anyone point me to a real good diag or maybe help in solving my dilemna? The whole system i have is less than 4 months old. =(
Thank You

Try a defrag. That often does wonders.
When you have done that, try running scandisk. If there are loads of bad sectors, the disk is dodgy.

Sisoft sandra will give you a decent idea of your harddrives speed.

It will show a comparrison chart of various harddrives.

IBM web page has some drive fitness tests and stuff you can run as well.

you might want to back up your important data before you run a bench mark or fitness test. These tests do stress the drive.
