Hello, I was told best place to post my problem was here on overclockers.com

First my box stats
AMD Athlon tbird 800Mhz
EPoX 8kta mb
256MB of ram
GeForce 2 GTS 32MB
SB Live! Value
Win98 SE
Cable modem

The problem

It began when my mouse would lockup, only for a few secs, it will freeze, the hour glass would show, then disappear and then reappear again, and then return to normal. I have a MS Intellimouse Explorer, but it also did this with my other regular ps/2 mouse, so I know its not the mouse. Lately I've been getting random lockups. I could be listening to WinAmp, or just browsing the web, or playing a game and it will lockup. One thing I've noticed is when I lockup, the light on my keyboard will go out, and on the mouse. If I wait about 3 minutes, it will return to normal but I still cant use mouse or keyboard, so I have to hard reboot. I've reformatted and reinstalled Win98 4 times now to no avail. I installed some drivers off my EPoX CD, and thats when I had to format for the first time, since I couldnt boot into windows, safe mode either. I've been having the mouse lockup and the comp lockup every since then.

Would flashing the bios clear any bios installs I've made, or could there be another fix to the problem?

-Thanks :)

are there any drivers newer than the ones on the cd that you could get? that would be the first thing I would try.

You might also see if there is a newer bios available, that could also help.

good luck
