This is the system I am considering building and wondering if there are any major problems with it/relatively cheap improvements, I may overclock some, but I would rather have stability and not having it take a month to get running right:

-AMD Opteron 170 or AMD Opteron 175
-ASUS A8N-SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
-XFX PVT70FUNF7 Geforce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card with 450MHz Core and 1250MHz Memory - Retail
-FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX500-A ATX12V 500W Power Supply - Retail
-2x CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model VS1GB400C3 - Retail
-Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
-ASUS Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DVD-E616A BLACK - Retail
-LG Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 5X DVD-RAM Read 2M Cache E-IDE / ATAPI DVD Burner - OEM

I think those are the main parts. As long as there isn't a major price difference I am open to suggestions on alternative components. I am getting the retail dual core opterons.
Edit: Changed DVD burner to full name
