Just a quicky question....I have a CodeGen PSU (350W) and it does a very good job. Problem is that it has too few connections, especially for adding fans. My mobo connections are used up, as are my spare PSU power connections. Question: What is the best way to add more fans when you have a limited amount of power connections?

You can daisy-chain connectors for fans either by using y-connectors ( the easy, but sloppy way) or by making a custom harness that runs right where you need it ( the more difficult but neater way).
I wouldn't add any more fans to your mobo headers. No sense in overdrawing current through the board...much safer to go direct to the PSU.

First you need to read this sticky I've linked you to. You will need to get a fan controller if you dont have one already.Your fans need to be all on 1 leg of your PSU.You usually have 2 or 3 of these legs coming out of the PSU.They will have a molex (big white 4 wire connecter) or 2 on each.Your HSF will need to be wired to a controller or rheostat. After you read the sticky, post your Q's for this issue..THE FANMAN:cool:

STICKY LINK :D

Yo, Archilochus...thanks for the sticky but I had already read that couple of times. Skab gave me what I was looking for though. I knew I needed to add the fans to a direct PSU connection and I was looking for a way to connect w/o having to cut my SATA or Aux connector. I have all my other power connectors daisy chained for drives and two other fans.

Thanks for the info ya'll.

You didn't get the importance of the sticky if your case fans are wired to your mobo. Are you going to reconfig your fan wiring to a dedicated leg of the PSU. Are you going to wire your HSF to the PSU via a rheostat? I'm just looking out for you with all of these Q's.Please don't be affended THE FANMAN:cool:

No offense taken FANMAN...I appreciate the look out and the advise. Yeah, I already have my HSF on a rheostat control and plugged into the PSU by itself. The HSF monitor is pluged into the mobo for alarm purpose. I only need to add one more, at most two more, fans. It probably is a good idea to get a fan controller but I hate to spend the money now when I am looking at a new PSU. By the time I get a good PSU (based on the stickys, etc.) and if I buy a fan controller, I may as well buy a new high tech case. Skab's link showed I could easily get an adaptor cable for PSU to 3-4 pin (fans) connector. Maybe a new case is not a bad idea in the end....your thoughts?

Well the case is the foundation of your efforts. You build out and up from there.I have a big O Xaser III,case because I like to have room to work. The smaller cases are like working on a small import car to me.No room for expansion. You need to get the fan controller and join the manual control freeks. If you get the right one for your needs you'll be happy. They aren't that expensive. I wanted to get the necesaries out of the way 1st. The sticky. To OC properly you need to get at least a 400 watt PSU,IMHO..
