well I found out this morning that a power outage can re-lock the multipliers on my XP...grrr. and being at school, i dont have the stuff i need to unlock it.

Before you go to the trouble of removing the CPU, go into your BIOS and verify that it hasn't re-set itself to the "default" settings which would include "AUTO DETECT" for CPU voltage, FSB, multipliers etc.

I hope it's this easy for you. Let us know how it goes.

i did go to the bios and reset it to a different multiplier than default and cpuid still says its defualt.... i might go back in and look again, we'll see.
