Guess what everyone ,
If you are looking to buy a new video card nows the time. The Geforce 2 Ultra is now 234 from yesterdays $235. Thats right one whole dollar . My point is we need more video card competion in the video card industry. IM not wasting my money on a card thats 234 dollars. I think nvidia has everyone by the balls if you ask me. I mean just look at what happen when AMD stepped in against intel. we can buy a proccesor under 200 which is fast as hell .
Anyway im running a voodoo 3 which has lasted me over 2 years. I think if 3dfx was still around today the geforce 3 wouldnt be 300 bucks.

Nvidia competed against themselves when they released the gf3.
Before the gf3 ultras cost what the gf3's do now.

They control most of the video market which in turns higher prices to us. Yeah they released the geforce 3 because of Radeon prices have dropped.
I dont remember prices for video cards being so high when 3dfx was running rapid in everyone computer.

Prices seem to be as low as they are going to get for a while. i don't think that the cards are overpriced, and if you do you should just buy cheeper ones. just becuase they have a monopoly does not mean that they are price gouging.

Lets take a look at Intel 2 years ago when they controled most of the cpu market as well as motherboards. Lets see i remember clearly a processor costing upwards of 1000 bucks for their best. Now lets look at AMD .. How much is their best processor with the better stepping.. about $200 max. If it wasnt for AMD the p4 1.7gighertz would cost 800 to 1000 bucks. Now take a look at the video card industry

Actually they may have a larger than 50% share of the market but guess why? It's not because of the GF2 Ultra, or certainly not the GF3. In fact it's not even the GF2 GTS or original Geforce. Guess what card is running in many OEM machines? The ORIGINAL TNT2!

I don't know, I personally feel anyone who buys an Nvidia card is wasting money. Radeon's cost half as much and have the same performance and better image quality.

I bet you don't think Microsoft is engaging in anti-competitive practices either?

>>>>>> Same performance as Nvidia? I dont think so!! Look at all the benchmarks comparing Geforce to Radion. Geforce kills it!
Image quality is only a little better and who would look that close if your just playing games? I like eye candy , but not when the frame rates suck. Try playing Tribes 2 in full high quality settings and see how the Radion will choke while the Geforce 3 shines!

No, I am not a employee of Nvidia, and YES , I think ATI has a nice card, but you are comparing apples to oranges.

I am not even gonna argue this post cuz it is so ATI sided it isn't even funny. I will say this. I had a ATI Radeon 64MB DDR and now have a GF2 Ultra. I still own the GF2 Ultra. Any questions?

I actually think video card prices are reasonable, for the software currently available. I mean, I'm only running a PIII540 w/ a GF1 oc'd and I'm smoking out good framerates in most, if not all games.

Sure, not everyone can afford a GF3... but could you afford an Oxygen card when the Voodoo3 was out? Not a chance. Could you afford the ATI Mach64? Nope, you were relegated to the Cirrus Logic 1mb card.

With CPU prices so low, you can just pack on the horsepower and have a GF2 GTS or MX and still be happy. Or go for a cheap Radeon if thats your flavor.

AAAAAGGGGHHHHHH

Im saveing up 350 bucks to but a new video card as my voodoo3 cant handle Tribes 2 well...
Now I dont no which card to get after reading this post! Geforce 3, GF2 ultra, Voodoo5, Radeon 64 DDR.....Im so confused....

where that tylenol....................

Im not defending Nvidia or anything but I believe the voodoo2 12mb was around 300 bucks when it was released and that was just outrageous. Of course 3dfx was pretty much it for gaming back then too.

I just got 2 voodoo 5 5500's for $50 each. Pretty cool don't you think. Found that deal in the cyber deals forum. The place doesn't have any more though.
