Primary master

Been having problems lately with primary HDD and disconecting the cd from the secondary IDE 2 conector seems to fix the problem.

So my question is: what is the best way to hook up 1 CD and 1 CD writer?

Example: Primary HD is master and CD is slave to IDE 1
